Born and bred in Kerala, Manoj Mathasseril is an accomplished and versatile artist, who is well-versed in using diverse media for creating his art. His experience makes him a seasoned artist and his distinguished style of using mixed media has set him apart over the years. Conceptualising every new work and choosing the right medium to create it is a breeze for him, with his expertise.
He is also proficient in Kerala murals, and has produced works based on the principles from age-old books like the Chitrasootram and Chitralakshanam. Besides that, he was also involved in the restoration of ancient mural works at temples. An eminent artist, he is also noticed for his cover designs and illustrations. Manoj has also engaged in doing pioneering works for prominent architects, builders, institutions and other personals, to be added to their personal collection as well as for their projects. One of the most recent being a series of six 22sqft paintings for the TDM hall, Ernakulam, to be displayed in their new Pamba hall.

Manoj has had a wide-reaching influence, having imparted art to countless students and has left a lasting impression in their lives through his teaching.
He takes classes for any passionate individual, who has the desire to pursue art, regardless of their age.
He also conducts regular workshops at various places to extend his knowledge and skills to other art lovers. Apart from having children regularly visit him at his studio at Kochi, he also has a rich student base that joins for his classes online.
He has been able to reserve a column for his cartoons in the Malayala Manorama for years, earning him regular readers for his cartoons. Covering a wide range of topics, from everyday life to politics and social issues, Manoj’s cartoons are simple yet powerful visual messages that resonate with his audience. Being an executive member of the Kerala Cartoon Academy (KCA), he was also the Director of International Cartoon Festival, ‘Caritoon 2023’.
His work has been recognised and has won several awards in the State, National and International levels, multiple times.
